Pulmonary emphysema of the horse

It is a condition, ranked among the redhibitory defects of the horse, which corresponds to a dilatation of the pulmonary alveoli.

Clinical signs are : breathing difficulties : whistles, increase in range of motion of the diaphragm and ribs, hacking, dry cough, degradation of the general State, difficulties in the effort : the animal is winded.

The evolution can lead to the death of the animal or a chronic phase. The treatment is based on of bronchodilators, the cough, Aspirin, corticosteroids…

The Prevention is the same as in allergic diseases (If possible pre update, Remove dusty litter…)
