Nervous pregnancy in the bitch
This disease affects only non-sterilised bitches.
It occurs generally two months after the heats your pet. The bitch will reproduce the same symptoms if she was going to put down. The animal achieved by nervous pregnancy, also named pseudo-gestation or nerve lactation, introduce different symptoms which may be more or less net :
Behavioral changes : the animal takes some objects for mother, agitation, appetite disorders ;
physiological changes : breasts can swell and even produce large quantities of milk in some cases. untimely licking of the vulva and breasts may be present.
The false pregnancy should be taken seriously because the accumulation of milk in the breasts and behavioral disorders can endanger the health of your dog : Anorexia, irritation from licking or even infection of the udders.
Before treatment, it must be formally ensure that there is no real pregnancy In progress. This treatment based on several principles :
hygienic : should confiscate all the objects and put on a diet the dog to create a physiological shock.
Medical treatment : hormone therapy orally, prescribed by your veterinarian, and, eventually, local treatment can quickly dry up lactation your bitch.
In patients with frequent recurrences, it may be necessary to consider the sterilization your dog to remove the hormonal stimuli that cause these recurrent false pregnancies.
