New regulations concerning the identification of the cat

chat4So far, the identification of cats was mandatory in the case of transfer of the animal to a third party. Thus, any cat sold or transferred free of charge should be previously identified by the person giving the cat.

But a law adopted on 17 may 2011 now makes obligatory identifying any cat over 7 months born after January 1 2012 :

– Cats born before 01/01/2012 are not concerned (néanmoinsobligatoirement they must be identified if they were sold or given as previously)

– Cats born after 01/01/2012 must be identified prior to their disposal

– Cats born after 01/01/2012 must be identified, later, at the age of 7 month, And this, even if they remain in their original family.

Any adult cat over 7 month born after the 01/01/2012 and no

identified will be considered, the eyes of the law, like an animal with no owner (it will be, if it is brought to the pound or a combination of animal welfare, considered a stray cat, and may be identified and proposed for adoption)
